Northern Transcon Day 17 - Murdo to Mitchell SD

We were greeted with heavy fog this morning, but it was warm.  This was the last morning on this tour for long time crew members Phil, Barb, and Zoe Bohaty.  Zoe has school obligations.  We will miss them but I'm sure they will be back on future PAC Tour events.

The fog had not lifted at 6:30 so riders departed with flashing taillights.  Traffic on the frontage road was extremely light.

The prevailing winds are usually from the west, but we faced some stiff headwinds, which added to our time.  The major attraction of today was crossing the Missouri River in Chamberlain.  Otherwise, scenery was a lot of corn and hay fields, with a few cattle.

This was another long day - 145 miles.  At least the time zone remained the same.  We had an ice cream social at the motel to celebrate crossing the half way point (miles and days).  Tomorrow will be another long one - 135 miles - and we enter Minnesota.
