An unexpected couple of miles of fresh gravel greeted us after the second rest stop, followed a few miles later by road construction (rough hard pack dirt, with some wet areas).
After lunch we followed the Snake River for several miles, and saw plenty of whitewater rafts (both in the river and on top of rafting company vehicles). Traffic into Jackson was predictably heavy, but a section of new construction provided a welcome relief, as the right lane and shoulder (both new asphalt) were still closed to motor vehicles. It was very pleasant to ride along for a few miles on smooth asphalt with no worries about traffic.
Today's mileage: 120, with about 4200 feet of climbing
